The holidays are meant to be enjoyed by all families around the world. In this year’s Christmas season, you need to focus on fun family activities that every member will enjoy, especially your little ones. Your preschool children have been looking forward to this very moment all year long. They know they are going to collect new gifts and get to do fun holiday activities to make the most of their Christmas break. Make sure your kids will never forget this year’s holiday by giving them exciting activities that will also give them opportunities for learning. Here’s a list of some of the best holiday activities your kids and the whole family can enjoy to make this the merriest Christmas ever!
Setting up a child-friendly nativity.
A nativity set has been a part of the holiday tradition for many families. This year, get your preschool children involved by setting up one that is child-friendly. Make a manger scene that is easy for them to do/ with their little hands. This is a fun holiday activity for children because they can re-enact the story behind the season while you narrate the real Christmas story.
Planning for movie nights.

Movie time is great for kids
Kids at preschool age have always loved watching television and cartoons. Join them in their favorite Christmas movies and plan for some movie nights with the whole family. This is something you can do every night or do it on weekend night when everybody is home. Make sure you don’t forget the popcorn or pizza to make your movie sessions extra special.
Going Christmas caroling.
Christmas songs are one of the best things that get us in the mood for the holidays. Going around the neighborhood while singing carols is a really fun thing you can do as a family. If this is something that your preschoolers haven’t experienced before, this is the time to share this wonderful experience with them. Your neighbors will enjoy being part of your family tradition.
Going on a holiday light tour.
Now that Christmas Day is fast approaching, you will see lights and decorations all over your city. So go ahead, get your kids in the car, play cheerful holiday tunes and drive around to enjoy the wonderful light displays. This may be a very simple activity but it surely is something that your kids will enjoy.
Making Christmas decorations.
If your preschoolers are into arts and crafts, the holiday season is the best time for them to use their skills. Get them involved in decorating your house by asking them to make some handmade decors. Search for simple projects that their small hands can make. And also make sure that they do this fun holiday activity under adult supervision. Once they are done, ask them to hang their creations in places where they will see them. They will feel happy and proud to see the works of their hands displayed inside the house.
Baking holiday goodies.
Holiday traditions will never be complete without baked goodies. And since you are going to make some for your Christmas dinner, get your preschool children involved in this task. You can do the complicated baking steps but assign them simple steps, too, to keep them engaged. Let them help with the molding of the round shaped cookies or assist them when they cut the gingerbread cookies with a cookie cutter.
Having some game nights.
Aside from watching TV and movies, another activity that your kids love during the holiday is playing games. Whether they are video games or board games, join your kids for some game nights. Let them choose their favorite game and learn how to do it. They’ll love it even more because you’re doing it with them. This is just an excellent way to spend quality time with your children while on Christmas break.
Going on a trip.
Because everyone in the family, especially your preschoolers, is on vacation during the holidays, make the most of this time and go somewhere together. This may not be something you can do all the time so now is the perfect time.. You don’t have to travel too far. You can just probably go to a nearby city or town and spend a few days there to explore a new place.
